Instruction & Mentorship
All instruction is led by etiquette expert Crystal L. Bailey, a member of the Cercle International des Experts en Etiquette et Protocole and recipient of the Excellence in Service Award from AD Excellence. Ms. Bailey received her training from Debrett’s London, Institut Villa Pierrefeu of Switzerland, and Etiquette à la Française, and is a certified image consultant through the London Image Institute.
Ms. Bailey is recognized internationally for her refined, modern approach to etiquette instruction and has been featured by CNN, BBC, and French Television.
Throughout the season, students benefit from her guidance in core etiquette principles, confidence-building, and age-appropriate social development.
Chéries vs. Belles
To thoughtfully serve students at different developmental stages, the Finishing School offers two distinct tracks:
Chéries – Grades 2–4
Belles – Grades 5–7
While both programs share a foundation of poise and presence, Chéries receive foundational etiquette instruction in a nurturing setting without the inclusion of cultural outings. Belles, in contrast, participate in a broader curriculum that includes monthly excursions and leadership enrichment. Tuition reflects the scope of each experience.
Sibling Discount
A sibling tuition discount is available. Please inquire directly with Ms. Bailey for details.
Parent Participation
The Chéries program is designed to encourage early independence in a warm and supportive setting. While regular lessons are student-focused, select opportunities are offered throughout the year for parents to observe or engage in designated activities.
Program Legacy
Now entering its 10th season, The Etiquette Institute of Washington’s Finishing School has earned a trusted place among families who value timeless values, polished presence, and cultural exposure.
Launched on the campus of St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School, and now held at the Historic Morrison-Clark Inn, the program has shaped the social confidence of countless young ladies. Graduates often return for refresher courses or continue in the Belles program as they grow, carrying forward the values instilled in their earliest years of etiquette education.
